I recently came across this first of it's kind web-reality series called Beauty and the Blogger. It’s a very unique concept which got me hooked, let me tell you a little about it.
So this show has an amazing mix of glamour and social media wherein they have eight teams comprising of one model and one blogger each. The models have to be fun, interesting, adding the glamour quotient and have to enthusiastically do all the tasks spread over the span of 3 days whereas the bloggers have to make sure they make their models famous using all social networking sites like Facebook, Twitter or a Blog. So cool right?
So in the first 3 days the models perform all the tasks and at the end of three days, the bloggers go back and promote all these tasks on social media. And the team with the largest number of views in addition to the scores they get for their performance in the tasks will win the show!
The Models have Anusha Dandekar while the bloggers have Miss Malini as their mentors. Anusha as we all know is a fashion icon for so many people and Miss Malini who is a star blogger herself , I feel are the perfect choices for mentors.
The concept is brilliant and I’d give it a big thumbs up for just merging these two very different but interlinked lifestyles. Its fun to watch and the best part is since it's a web series you can watch it anytime. So you’ll be seeing quite a lot about it on my Facebook, Twitter and Blog posts. Its summer time and one problem that we all face during this season is tanning! But did you know that there are many home remedies that you can you get rid of your tan?If not, don’t worry, here are some of the most popular and effective home remedies to help you remove that horrid sun tan.
Multani Mitti (Fuller Earth) and Aloe Vera Gel Pack - When it comes to overall skin care, there is nothing like Multani Mitti . It not only cools and soothes the skin burns but also helps reduce acne, skin irritation and blemishes. Aloe Veragel helps to lighten skin tone and acts as a natural cleanser. Method : Mix 2 table spoon of Multani Mitti with a table spoon of Aloe Vera gel, add rose water to dilute the mixture. Apply on your face and neck and let it dry for half an hour. Wash your face with cold water.
Lemon Juice, Rose Water and Cucumber Juice Pack : Mix some lemon juice, rose water and cucumber juice together and apply it on the face as a face pack. Benefits : Lemon juice has citric acid that helps remove the tan whereas cucumber and rose water are cooling agents. It is an extremely effective method but it takes about a week to show a noticeable results.

Honey and Lemon Juice Pack : Mix together some honey and lemon juice and apply it on the affected area. It is one of the best anti tan pack mixtures. Benefits : The citric acid in lemon helps remove tan whereas honey to helps make the skin soft and glowing.

Yogurt and Orange Juice Pack : Mix 1 table spoon each of yogurt and orange juice and apply it on your face. Leave the mixture on for 30 minutes and rinse off with water. Benefits : Orange is rich in vitamin C which helps fight skin blemishes. Also collagen found in orange slows down the process of skin aging and helps in skin tightening. Yogurt acts as a natural bleach and moisturizer and helps to make your skin soft and supple.
Orange Juice
Raw Milk (kaccha doodh), Turmeric (haldi) and Lemon Juice Pack : Prepare a paste of some raw milk, turmeric and some lemon juice. Apply this mixture on the skin and let it remain till it dries up. Once dried wash it off with some cool water. Benefits : Milk helps to make the skin soft while turmeric is an excellent exfoliating and anti-ageing agent and lemon juice helps to lighten the skin.

Oats and Buttermilk Pack : Prepare a mixture of oats and buttermilk. Rub this mixture onto the tanned area. Benefits : Oats help in exfoliating the skin and butter milk is known to be extremely soothing for the skin.

Lemon Juice : Apply some fresh lemon juice and allow it to remain for at least 15 minutes on the elbows, knees or patchy areas. Benefits : It helps remove the tan and makes the skin fair.

Coconut water : A regular use of fresh coconut water on the hands and face is known to be very effective. Benefits : It helps in getting rid of a tan as well as making the skin supple and soft.

Potato and Lemon Juice Pack : Extract the juice of one potato using a grinder, mix a table spoon of lemon juice with it and apply on face and other affected areas. Let it dry for 30-40 minutes. Wash off with cold water. Benefits : Potato is loaded with vitamins, minerals, protein and fibers. Potato juice has anti-ageing properties, blemishes and sun burn. It soothes the skin and calms it.

Now the last one is my favourite! Strawberries and Milk Cream Pack : Crush 4 strawberries and mix with 2 table spoon of milk cream and apply on your face. Let it stay for 30 minutes and rinse off with water. Benefits : Strawberry has skin lightening agents that help in improving skin complexion and reducing dark spots, pigmentation and freckles. Milk cream helps in making the skin soft.

P.S. – It is also important to prevent suntan as the sun rays can be really harmful for your skin in the long run so here are some basic tips to prevent Sun Tan:
1. Cover your hands properly before stepping out in the sun to avoid direct impact.
2. If you can’t cover them, then apply a good sunscreen to keep the skin protected. Apply a sunscreen with at least SPF 30 liberally and half an hour before sun exposure. If you skip sunscreen because you sweat a lot, look for a ‘non-comedogenic’ one as this will not clog your pores.
3. Drink lots of water. This helps you to keep your skin hydrated from inside out, thus reducing the risk of the skin drying. It increases the cell turnover and lets your skin rejuvenate and renew itself.
4. Moisturize your hands, that is, hydrate your skin externally too by applying a moisturizer that contains natural fruit acids on a regular basis. This will aid tan removal from the skin. P.S. You can also watch these natural remedies to get rid of sun tan instead of reading if you like :)

I've always said that using a good sunscreen in this
scorching heat is a must! Recently I got the Lakme 9 to 5 Super
Sunscreen to review and as you know in
my Skin Care Routine I mentioned that I was looking for a good sunscreen so I thought of trying it out. If haven't already seen it, check it out here..
I’ve used a few Lakme 9 to 5 products and they have been good so far and thus I didn't have
any apprehensions trying the Sunscreen.
The Lakme 9 to 5 Super Sunscreen comes in two variants – Hydrating
Sunscreen for normal/dry skin and Mattifying Sunscreen for oily skin. It
contains SPF 50 which gives your skin optimum protection against harmful UVA
and UVB rays.
Starting with the Hydrating Sunscreen, even though I have
oily skin it worked rather well. It has a liquid like consistency, and is white
in colour. It glides on very easily and does not leave white patches; this is
something I love about the product as all the other sunscreens I’ve tried make
my skin look patchy. Since its SPF 50 it gives good protection against the sun
and doesn't feel greasy at all. I applied it in the morning but by late
afternoon I had to re-apply it as I was still going to be out in the sun. The
good part about this sunscreen is that it is very lightweight and I can easily
wear it under my makeup without it looking cakey.
The Mattifying Sunscreen is a little thicker in consistency
and non-sticky. The face looks a little white as soon as you apply it but in a
few minutes it settles down. Otherwise it works just like the Hydrating
Sunscreen. If you have really oily
skin, this is the product I’d highly recommend. It stays true to its name and
keeps your face matte for at least a couple of hours.
The packing is quite simple they both come in a pinkish
bottle with a golden cap and a pump dispenser. They are easy to carry around
and do not leak.
A major problem with this product is its pricing; a 30ml
bottle costs you Rs. 500 which is quite expensive in comparison to other
brands. And since you need to re-apply it every few hours, it will get over
much sooner.
In all it is a good product if you are the kind of person
who prefers quality over quantity and now that I've used it for a while I find
it much better than my earlier sunscreen in terms of protection from tanning
and sunburn. It also gives your skin a nice even tone, which is perfect for the
days you want to go out without any makeup.

I've got this product to review called Za
True White Cleansing foam. Za has just made its entry into India and since it
is a sub brand of the cosmetic giant Shiseido I was quite keen to try on this
product.

I've been using this cleanser for 15 days now and I quite
like it. It is white in colour, cream-like in consistency and it has tiny orange
Vitamin C granules. Fragrance wise it is very subtle, nothing fancy which is
fine by me as long as it does the job. The cleanser lathers really well and a
small pea-sized amount is sufficient for the entire face. The after-wash feel
is amazing. It left my skin feeling clean, soft and moisturized getting rid
of any oiliness thanks to the key SPA ingredients like natural spring water
from the foothills of Tuscany, Italy and white lily extract. Sounds exotic,
right?
In terms of whitening, that wasn't really my reason for trying
the product but I did find my skin more brighter and clearer with every passing
day and touch wood I haven’t had any negative reactions like breakouts or
irritation.
Another thing it claims is that it removes light makeup but
I didn't try that as I prefer using a make-up remover for the same.
Packaging wise it’s simple and classy, in a
white tube with a flip top cap.
In terms of pricing, it’s on the moderate side. A 100 ml
tube is priced at Rs. 349.
Overall I really liked the product. It works really well
with oily as well as dry skin it tends to remove excess oil from the skin and
still not make the skin feel tight.

Hello my lovely ladies, I’d like to start
off by apologizing about the long absence on the blog. Really sorry, been caught
up with too many things but I promise to keep it updated from now on.
In my Skin Care Routine video I’d mentioned that I use Ubtan, a home
remedy for exfoliation and a lot of you requested me to share the recipe, so
here it is....
Ubtan is a mixture of natural ingredients
that removes the excess dirt and gives you a flawless skin. I've been using it
for a while and so it comes highly recommended. I like to apply it once a month
on my face and neck but if you have time you can also apply it on your entire
body. The quantity of my recipe is just enough for the face and neck so if you
want to apply it on your body you will have to increase the measurements of the
ingredients accordingly.
Ingredients:
So firstly take 1 ½ - 2 tablespoons
of Besan (gram/chickpea flour),
Add
a pinch of Haldi
(turmeric) in it (make sure you do not use too much Haldi as it will
make your skin yellow),
Add 2 teaspoons of fresh Malai
(cream) and not the tetra pack that you get at stores,
Add a little bit of Milk to
blend the ingredients and make a thick paste,
Lastly add 2 – 3 drops of Lime
Benefits:
Now before applying I’m sure you guys would
want to know more about the beneficial properties of each of these ingredients
so here goes:
Besan helps in exfoliation and lightening
the skin, Haldi again helps in lightening the skin, Malai is an excellent
source of adding natural moisture to the skin , Milk makes the skin soft and
smooth, and Lemon as we all know is a great cleanser, it lightens the skin and
also helps in reducing the strong smell of the other ingredients. I once made the ubtan without Lemon and trust
me the smell was just intolerable.
Method:
Once you've made a thick paste, wash your
face and neck area nicely and pat it dry before applying it. Once applied, leave
it till it dries completely which should take around 10-15 minutes. Do not
apply this on your eyebrows as lemon is considered to fade the color of your
hair and you surely don’t want grey eyebrows :p
Once it has dried, with the help of your
fingers, rub the mixture in circular motion to remove it off and then wash your
face with luke warm water.
To finish off, rub a cube of ice on your
entire face once as it helps to close the pores. Pat it dry and you should be
able to see a difference in your skin immediately.
If you have oily skin, you might feel the
need to use a facewash as Malai tends to make your skin more oily but if you
aren't heading out that day, avoid using a facewash or atleast avoid for a
couple of hours.
