BBlunt Back To Life Dry Shampoo Review

Hello my lovelies,

You know like most girls, I love the after hair wash feeling but I hate the mammoth task of a hair wash, which is more of a necessity for someone like me as I suffer from an oily scalp :( But then I heard of this miracle in a bottle known as a dry shampoo. While I have tried a few from various brands before, I was more than happy to try a new one (at least for me) from BBlunt called Back To Life Dry Shampoo. So without much ado, let's begin this review, shall we?

About The Product :

Instant freshness is now a spray away. This dry shampoo (no water required) does a smooth job of absorbing excess grease and grime and revamps your hair in seconds. Don't leave home without it.

Directions :

Shake well before use. Hold can in an upright position, six inches away from the hair and spread evenly, close to the roots. Leave on for two minutes. Massage and brush thoroughly.

Packaging :

The dry shampoo comes in a silver spray can with a transparent cap which stays secured at all times, making it travel-friendly.

My Experience :

As I already mentioned earlier, I am cursed with an oily scalp, so I am someone who washes her hair every alternate day anyways. But now with the onset of summer and my daily workout, I've had to resort to washing my hair daily...which is not only time-consuming but also not very good for my precious tresses. So I thought of including BBlunt's Back To Life Dry Shampoo in my hair care routine. I tried it on the second day, after my hair wash, post a rigorous work out mind you, so the hair is as good as not washed for three days, if you know what I mean :p
So I made a couple of sections in my hair and sprayed the dry shampoo. While it did leave a white residue, it soon disappeared with a little massaging. My hair felt dry, fresh and over all manageable to go another day without a hair wash. I am a sucker for good fragrance products but I wasn't very impressed with the fragrance of this one. The dry shampoo did not really add volume to my hair but it wasn't limp either. The effect lasted a good 5-6 hours for me, but I was out and about, could work for longer maybe if you stay indoors.  But honestly it was fine by me as I survived the day, feeling good without actually investing in a hair wash. I'm sure if a boy reads this, he will wonder what the big deal is but girls with long hair will totally understand :D

Pricing :

Price wise I think BBlunt Back To Life Dry Shampoo is decently priced. It is available in a 125 ml can for Rs. 550 as well as a smaller 30 ml can priced at Rs. 250. I tried the 30 ml one.

Pros :

- Fresh hair
- Makes hair manageable
- Does not weigh the hair down
- No hair fall
- Easily available online besides BBlunt salons
- Pocket-friendly
- Travel-friendly

Cons :

- Could have better fragrance
- Leaves a white residue for sometime on the hair.

Final Verdict :

While nothing can be compared to the awesome feeling of a hair wash, BBlunt's Back To Life Dry Shampoo, I wouldn't really say is close enough but can definitely get you through the day :) It makes your hair look and feel fresh and I would definitely repurchase it considering it is a good product and totally value for money.

Rating :

4 out of 5!

Pond's Silk Cream Review

Hello my lovelies,

How's the summer heat treating you all? We at FOMO for sure can't wait for the rains to bring in some cool breezy relief :)
Coming to today's post, it's our review of Pond's Silk Cream. Think Pond's and the first thing that comes to mind is 'Googly Woogly Woosh' :p Now before the jingle starts playing in your head as well, let's see if this cream does what it claims.

Claims :

- Light non-greasy formula
- Nourishing 24 hour moisture lock
- Contains silk extract
- Experience the latest nourishing treat from Pond's! 24 hr moisturisation + goodness of silk in a luxuriously light cream that moisturises from deep within to give you a soft & smooth skin like never before.

Packaging :

Pond's Silk Cream comes in cardboard box inside which is a simple white color tub containing the cream.

Texture and consistency :

The cream is milky white in colour and has a rather soft texture. It is very light-weight hence glides on and gets absorbed into the skin very easily.

Fragrance :

Pond's Silk Cream has a pleasant ,signature Pond's fragrance though I found it to be a little too strong for my liking but the good thing is it subsides in sometime.

My Experience :

Honestly, I haven't used too many Pond's products in the past and more so I'm always skeptical about trying something new, specially on my face. But it was summer time and the emulsion I normally use for my face got discontinued :( so grudgingly I gave this product a try as the product claims seemed bang on for what I was looking for, a light cream to just provide adequate moisture during summers.

As mentioned earlier, the soft texture of the cream got absorbed into my skin rather easily and left my skin feeling soft, supple and hydrated. And honestly, I felt like touching my face again and again but that's not a very good habit, so should be avoided by you ladies as well :) I tested it on my hands first and then progressed to the face. A small pea-size amount worked for my entire face without making it look or feel greasy, nor did it break me out. Thank God! Adult acne is the last thing I'd want to deal with.

Now coming to the cons, it has a long list of chemicals which I wish they'd go a bit easy on. Also the claim of 24 hour moisture lock, I'm not very sure of but since it's summers I didn't really need to keep re-applying the cream. And last but not the least, I've never been a big fan of tub packaging due to the hygiene factor.

Pricing :

Pond's Silk Cream is very reasonably priced. It comes in three pack sizes, 30 ml for Rs. 55, 55 ml for Rs. 99 and 100 ml. for Rs. 150. I tried the 30 ml pack size.

Pros :

- Travel friendly packaging.
- Three pack sizes
- Soft skin
- Glides on easily
- Doesn't grease the skin
- Works like a wonder for normal and dry skin
- Easily available
- Affordable

Cons :

- Contains a lot of chemicals
- Tub packaging
- Not suitable for oily skin

Final Verdict:

Pond's Silk Cream is a boon for normal and dry skinned ladies but not so much for oily skin people. You could probably try it only on the areas which usually feel dry and see if it works for you. It makes the skin extremely soft and hydrated without burning a hole in your pocket. Worth a try.

Rating :

3.5 out of 5!

I got a chance to work more closely with it during my nomination for the International Woolmark Prize. The versatile Cool Wool fabric has been reimagined for eveningwear and occasion wear through this collection, in a way that’s glamorous yet sensual. The concept was best exemplified with stunning showstopper Aditi Rao Hydari’s outfit.

Gaurav Jai Gupta at The Woolmark Company Fashion Showcase
Gaurav Jai Gupta showcased wool with an interesting array of blends. He said, “It all started with American travel and art photographer Trey Ratcliff’s images from Tokyo as a reference point. Hand-woven fabrics have been developed in merino wool, monofilament silks, cotton, zari and stainless steel. The collection - Mumuksha consists of separates for both women & men along with sarees.”

Rahul Mishra at The Woolmark Company Fashion Showcase
International Woolmark Prize 2014 - Womenswear Winner Rahul Mishra’s collection was inspired by metamorphosis in life. Speaking about his collection - the ‘Fourth Dimension’, Rahul commented, “The Fourth Dimension is an essential tool to revisit the past through Merino yarn and human hands in a world ruled by technology, and fight the constant time and space to look into the future – to preserve the unseen hand of the skilled artisan who painstakingly beats technology to infuse individual hand skill in creating a couture expression of the fourth dimension.”

Rajesh Pratap Singh, known for his understated designs presented a simple yet flawless collection highlighting the fluidity, drapability and versatility of Merino wool. “Oversized silhouettes are predominant in the collection and many garments are reflective of traditional Indian costumes but with a modern twist and relevance for today’s man. There are tunics in grey reds and oranges that add a burst of color to the otherwise indigo palette.  The ubiquitous white shirt and tunic also find their place in the collection.” Rajesh remarked.

Troy Costa at The Woolmark Company Fashion Showcase
Popular celebrity designer Troy Costa (famous for dressing Prime Minister, Mr. Narendra Modi) presented his collection inspired by La Bella Figura. Literally meaning the good impression, it was marked throughstructured silhouettes of bespoke tailoring”, as Troy mentioned. Omar Farooq at The Woolmark Company Fashion Showcase
Pakistani menswear designer Omar Farooq, renowned for creating super-stylish looks for the current heartthrob Fawad Khan, unveiled ‘Oriental Opulence’, a collection of embroideries, jacquards, knitting, embellishments and printing to create rich textile, bringing traditions to contemporary fashion. Commenting on his collection, Omar explained, “Taking contradicting forces and realising their complimenting nature; toying with negating dynamics, to create harmonising effects; meshing together the disconnected to breed a connection - Oriental Opulence is an attempt to look for divinity amongst the earthly.”

The Designer Collaboration Showcase also focused on the Make in India concept, highlighting the journey of Australian Merino wool to the weavers, manufacturers, brands and designers in India – from farm to fashion.

“The idea behind the designer collaboration showcase was to highlight the intrinsic yet not well-known aspects of wool - lightweight and trans-seasonal - and also present it in a very contemporary and stylish look,” said The Woolmark Company Country Manager for India, Arti Gudal.

“The conceptualisation of wool has always been with knitwear but our efforts continue to bring dynamic innovations and trending styles to the fibre. The work of all the designers is an amalgamation of the Indian and international sensibilities, highlighting the Make in India concept and has defined Merino wool as a fashionable and trans-seasonal fibre perfect for any occasion”

Summer Skincare 101

With the changing weather, not only is it time for a change in attire, but also for a switch from heavy creams to lightweight moisturizers. It is very common for women to stop moisturizing their skin during summers. However, light moisturizers become all the more important in this season to save your skin from dehydration and dullness.

During summers, due to excessive heat, the body sweats profusely, leading to loss of fluids resulting in dehydration. Constant exposure to UV rays also lowers the hydration levels of the skin. This loss of moisture affects the skin adversely making it look dull. So, it is recommended   to use a moisturizer which is non-greasy and lasts longer.

Remaining indoors in an air-conditioned room might seem like an easy solution. However, air conditioners often have a drying effect on our skin and can upset the skin’s natural moisture-balance.

Thus, it is vital to use a moisturizing cream that will not just counter these effects on the outside but also helps restore moisture and suppleness from the inside. Pond’s Silk Cream is a light luxurious non greasy formula which instantly absorbs into the skin, making it an ideal solution for your daily moisturizing needs. Vitamin E helps hydrate the skin from deep within and Vitamin B3 makes skin look visibly radiant. Suitable for all skin types, the new Pond’s Silk Cream is a must have for nourished incomparably soft skin.

A nourishing treat from the Pond’s Institute, the Pond’s Silk cream is available across all leading stores in India. It comes in three pack sizes; 30ml for Rs. 55, 55ml for Rs. 99 and 100 ml for Rs. 150.

Beauty Uses Of Coconut Oil

Hello ladies,

Did you'll know coconut oil is used in many natural beauty products and for good reason. It's naturally antibacterial and anti fungal, plus it is an excellent moisturizer. So read on to know how to use this ordinary product in extraordinary ways.

Makeup remover - Even the most resistant waterproof mascara doesn't stand a chance against coconut oil. Apply it directly to the face as an oil cleanser or let it sit on your skin with a cotton pad. Makeup will melt away.

Breath Freshener. Coconut oil has antifungal and antibacterial properties. Gargling for 20 minutes with a spoonful of oil (a.k.a. oil pulling) can help clear up germs in the mouth, leading to fresher breath, whiter teeth, and healthier gums.

Body Lotion. If you're into beauty DIYs, then coconut oil is a vanity essential. You can use this versatile oil as the base to make your own body moisturizer.

Cuticle Oil. Got cracked cuticles? Remedy peeling skin with a coconut oil balm right at the base of nails. It can also help your manicure last longer.

Makeup-Brush Cleaner. Cleaning your makeup brushes should be a monthly ritual. You can use a DIY cleanser that's two parts antibacterial soap and one part coconut oil.

Lip Balm. Coconut oil is the ideal remedy for chapped lips especially because it's semisolid at room temperature. Pack a bit in a miniature jar and smooth over lips throughout the day.

Stretch-Mark Cream. Expectant moms should keep a jar of coconut oil nearby to help ward off stretch marks, but anyone can use this as a topical treatment for scars. While the oil won't fade any marks, it can help prevent dark spots and blisters from forming.

Under-eye Cream. Use a dab of coconut oil on under eye bags and fine lines. It's light enough for the most delicate skin on your face.

Body Scrub. Mix half a cup of coconut oil with a handful of coarse salt or sugar to create an exfoliator. The moisturizing oil will last long after the grains have melted away.

Frizz Tamer. Flyaways begone with this smoothing treatment. Just rub a dime-size amount in your hands and smooth from mid-shaft to ends for frizz-free style that's high on shine.

Massage Oil. Warm coconut oil in the microwave and add a few drops of an essential oil, like lavender or peppermint, for a soothing massage mix.

Whitening Toothpaste. Run out of toothpaste? Grab the closest jar of coconut oil and add baking soda for a quick fix. Everyone will wonder how you got such a white smile.

Shaving Cream. Use coconut oil as a base to get a closer shave that leaves legs smooth instead of dried out. You can also use it alone or with other ingredients in this DIY shave-cream recipe.

Dandruff Treatment. Dandruff and dry scalp go hand in hand. So send moisture right to the roots with a nightly coconut oil treatment. Just apply lightly to roots and massage in, which will also stimulate hair growth.

Body Oil. Why purchase a separate body oil when you can keep coconut oil near the bath? Just slather it on wet skin after the shower, then pat dry. You'll smell like a beach vacation all day. Plus, it has a natural SPF 4.

Itch Relief. Burns, bug bites, and bruises can all be soothed with a topical balm of coconut oil.

Deep Conditioner. You can use hot coconut oil as a preshampoo treatment to soothe dry hair before you shampoo and condition. Leave in for at least an hour for an allover moisturizing treatment. You can also use it as a leave-in conditioner by applying a small amount to wet strands to seal in moisture.

Night Cream. Apply coconut oil at night for maximum moisturizing benefits. The antioxidants are great for smoothing fine lines and wrinkles while you sleep.

Deodorant. Yes, you can make your own natural deodorant at home (and it works). Mix coconut oil with arrowroot powder, cornstarch, baking soda, and a scented oil for a DIY odor fix.

Highlighter - Simply sweep a small amount of organic coconut oil on top of makeup and leave it alone. It looks like your skin but with added glow, which is why many natural makeup brands use it as a base ingredient in their formulas.

Alternatively, you can view the beauty uses of coconut oil below.

So ladies, now you know all the amazing beauty uses of coconut oil. If you know any other coconut oil tips, let us know in the comments below and for more of FOMO Fashion On My Own stay connected on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Youtube.

Skin Care Tips In Summer!

It’s that time of the year when temperatures are soaring and the humidity starts to reflect on your face. As you plan to enjoy these sunny days, it’s important that you also protect your skin from over exposure to UV rays that can cause ‘dark spots’

Here are some simple tricks to beat the heat and look spotless this summer:

Hydrate your skin – Good skin requires an intake of at least two litres of water every day. However, summer demands more. Increase your daily intake of H20 and feel the difference. Better still, add a slice of citrus for fruit-infused water that is rich in anti- oxidants too

Go Green – A nutritious and well balanced diet is a pre-requisite for radiant skin. Fruits and vegetables are loaded with anti-oxidants that protect skin from damage caused by free radicals and sun exposure.
Cleanse daily – Pollution, sun’s rays, and heat all result in clogged pores and dull skin. Cleanse your face twice a day with a mild cleanser to wash away the grime and dirt. But, do remember to moisturize generously once you are through with the cleansing

Moisturize with SPF – Another very important way to achieve flawless luminous skin is by using specially crafted creams that are designed to protect and maintain the radiance of your skin. The Pond’s White Beauty Fairness Cream with SPF 15 PA++ helps to brighten skin and reduce dark spots and dark circles. Made with Spot Removal Technology Pro-Vitamin B3, the cream penetrates deep within the layers of the skin and reduces melanin transfer to the upper layers.

Bollywood actress, Ileana D’cruz shares her views on sun protection, “Prolonged exposure to the sun, often left my skin looking tired and dull. With regular use of Pond’s White Beauty Fairness Cream, I’ve seen a visible change in my skin. I love the light texture of the cream and my skin looks spot-less and radiant from within.”

Now unblock your inner glow with Pond’s White Beauty Fairness Cream, available in all leading stores across the country. Pond’s White Beauty Fairness Cream is available in 35 gm for Rs. 125 and 50 gm for Rs. 199
